WOLF IN SNOW
David loves to draw wild animals and wolves in particular. He drew the "Wolf in Snow" pencil sketch during a plane ride from England to Ireland. The flight attendants saw him drawing it and brought him a complimentary beverage as a token of appreciation.
QUICK WOLF SKETCH
This quick wolf sketch was done with a felt tip marker and stylistically demonstrates a characterized approach to the wolf breed.
A still image rendering has to tell a story in a single static frame, while animation has the luxury of movement. As Creative Director, David would often advise his fellow 3D visualizers to keep their renderings clear and readable as possible.
Best practices for 3D visualizers includes image planning with on-location reference photography. As you can imagine, this location scout on the Baja Peninsula for the Capella project (see video below) was very useful for capturing the lay of the land. Photography started as a hobby for David, and over time, it became a mainstay in his professional life.
